On the 11th and 12th of October 2013 the Transplant Alliance Meeting took place in La Paz, Bolivia. In attendance were Bolivia's Governmental authorities, the International Transplant Society, the Latin American and Caribbean Transplant Society and delegates from local scientific societies. At the meeting, Bolivia's Health Ministry, in representation of the Plurinational Government, committed to fight against Transplant Tourism and create a National Agency to act as a regulatory authority in this field, and move towards organ donation by the deceased as a focal point of the transplant program in the country.
