FIRST INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCE "TRANSPLANTATION PROGRESS AND PERSPECTIVES ECUADOR 2013"

The First International Training Conference "Transplantation Progress and Perspectives Ecuador 2013", aimed at health professionals in Ecuador took place on October 16th and 17th 2013 within the framework of the commemoration of World Blood Donor Day which was celebrated on October 14th.

This technical event was organized in collaboration with the Latin American and Caribbean Transplantation Society (STALyC), the Ecuadorian Organ and Tissue Transplantation Society (SETOT) and the Isidro Ayora Gynaecology/Obstetrics Hospital.

Scientific Program


The aim of this activity was to offer a current overview of the progresses made in transplantation, both nationally and internationally, and to create a scientific setting for participants to exchange experiences and knowledge with health professionals in Ecuador who are working in the field of liver and kidney transplantation processes.

International Guests
Funding for the travel expenses of our three international guests was organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Transplantation Society (STALYC) and the Ecuadorian Organ and Tissue Transplantation Society (SETOT).

Attendance
Health professionals working in the field of transplantation and medical students from Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca were in attendance.

CONCLUSION:
The training conference offered a setting which enabled presenters, guests and representatives of Accredited Medical Units for liver and kidney transplants to share their experiences with the participants regarding case studies, management models, pre-transplant evaluations, surgical techniques, immunosuppressant drugs, research studies conducted at each hospital, among others.


The First International Training Conference "Transplantation Progress and Perspectives - Ecuador 2013" enabled the positioning of the National Donor and Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplantation Institute (INDOT) as executor of public policies regarding donation and organ, tissue and cell transplantation through regulation, coordination, control, raising awareness, monitoring and evaluation during the donation and transplant process.


This technical event was an opportunity to visualize the progress which has been made in Ecuador in recent years in the field of transplantation, as well as an opportunity to strengthen the relationships with all the relevant actors and the National Integrated Donor and Transplantation System.
